Commissioner Knight is leading the New York delegation’s visit to Taiwan in the hops of exchanging opinions and discussing investment and collaboration opportunities with semiconductor supply chain companies. This visit is particularly significant, given New York’s designation of the NY SMART I-Corridor Tech Hub as one of the 31 inaugural Tech Hubs that show potential for rapid growth in key technology sectors with a specific focus on supporting Semiconductor Manufacturing and Supply Chain Sustainability. Notably, Micron’s plan to invest $100 billion over the next 20 years to construct a new megafab in Clay, New York, announced in 2022, underscores the state’s commitment to semiconductor manufacturing. Additionally, Global Foundries’’ resent announcement of an $11.6 billion investment to expand its manufacturing facility in Saratoga County, New York, further highlights the regions’ attractiveness for semiconductor industry investment.
During NY delegation’s stay from April 15th to April 16th, we would like to extend an invitation to the esteemed members of TSIA to join our reception on the evening of April 15th. This event will provide a valuable opportunity for networking, facilitating fruitful discussions on potential collaborations and investments in the semiconductor industry.
